The Collaborative of the SCFD is a non-profit membership organization comprised of Tier I and Tier II art, science and cultural organizations funded by the SCFD, a Colorado sales and use tax in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas and Jefferson Counties. Since 1994, our organizations have used a portion of their SCFD Award to provide K-12 education grants to public schools and cultural programming to the Denver-metro community. We work together to strengthen relationships through collaborative programs and professional networking. In essence: ‘to do together what we cannot do alone’.
First founded by Tier II organizations in 1992 as the Community Awareness Partnership, the organization later joined forces with Tier I members after the 2004 SCFD re-authorization and formed the Scientific & Cultural Collaborative (SCC) as a 501(c)(3). Tier III organizations were invited to participate in programs since 2012. Now doing business as the Collaborative of the SCFD, our organizations continue to work together to serve the public in the seven counties of the SCFD and beyond.
The SCFD is a seven-county tax district created within Colorado law, approved by Colorado’s General Assembly and renewed by voters multiple times over more than 30 years.
Just one penny on every $10 in sales and use tax collected goes to SCFD. This money is then given out annually to qualifying nonprofit organizations.
